Holidays In Rhode Island Are A Sight To See!

Have you ever wondered what it was like to live in a Christmas town in those Hallmark movies you see? Well, living in Rhode Island gives you a little taste of what that would be like. From Thanksgiving to The New Year, there are festivals galore throughout the state.

One of my favorite holiday celebrations in Rhode Island is the Bristol Christmas Festival. This town really knows how to make December feel like Christmas time. The month kicks off with a Grand Illumination, the entire town looks like a beautiful Christmas village full of lights and trees. During this celebration, the town is visited by Santa and the tree is lit and the giant snowflake over Hope Street is illuminated for all to adore. It truly is a sight to see. In addition to this festival, the Blithewold estate also participates in the Christmas celebration. Have you ever wandered through a glittering holiday house that looks like it should be in a Hallmark movie? In Bristol, that house is the historic Blithewold estate, which each year transforms into a dazzling display celebrating the magic of the season.

Another amazing holiday tradition in Rhode Island is the tree lighting ceremony and Christmas village in Westerly. This town truly feels like a little Christmas village, with shopping and caroling, complementary cookies, cocoa, and fireworks at the Ocean House. After Santa Claus makes his arrival on a firetruck, kids get to sit on his lap and take photos with him.

Still haven’t gotten enough of the Holiday festivities? Don’t worry, those are just the beginning. Holidays in Rhode Island last all throughout December and into the New Year. There’s Christmas at the Castle in North Kingstown where you can explore the c. 1678 Smith’s Castle when it’s all decked out for a celebration of Christmas past. Then you can stroll on over to Narragansett for their Holiday Faire, a town-wide celebration with a walk around the artisan gift barn, Santa sightings, and ice skating with plenty of delicious food, and live music.

If you just enjoy driving in your car at night with Frank Sinatra’s Christmas album playing while you marvel at the Christmas displays around the neighborhoods, we have that too. You can find a list of all the elaborate holiday light displays around the state online. So warm up the car, get your Christmas playlist ready and take a drive.

The list of Rhode Island Christmas celebrations goes on and on. Don’t believe me? Come see for yourself! Living in Rhode Island is something I have cherished my entire life. Being a part of a state that brings the holidays to life really puts anyone in the Christmas spirit. So whether you enjoy sitting at home drinking hot chocolate and binging all your favorite Christmas movies, or want to feel like you’re in your own Christmas town, Rhode Island is the perfect place for you.
