Living In Rhode Island Is As Amazing As It Sounds!
Summer is here and there is no better place to be than the Ocean State. With Rhode Island being home to over 400 miles of coastline, it is no wonder so many people love to be here in the summer. But, what are the locals doing and why is living in Rhode Island better than being a tourist here? From things to do, food to eat, schools to attend, excellent location, and beautiful real estate for an stage of life, Rhode Island is the perfect mix of old and new. Being a Rhode Island native, I want to share with you the aspects I love about this state.
Things to Do In Rhode Island:
The state of Rhode Island offers a wide array of things to do. On hot days locals cool off by finding themselves at one of the many beaches the state has to offer. Some communities even have private beaches to avoid tourists overcrowding the areas. Public Parks like Rocky Point which hosts a paved walking path along the water, a beach to take a swim and tons of history of the amusement park that once stood on the grounds it is a great hidden gem that the locals frequent. If you are lucky you might find yourself there for one of the food truck days for food, music and shopping booths. Speaking of shopping, summer brings tons of farmers markets all around. One of the best ones will bring you to the heart of the city and offer many local vendors and fresh products. While in Providence you also might check out the Waterfire show which is a wonder for all to see. Boating is also a huge part of being a Rhode Islander, East Greenwich is a great little town with boat slips that brings people together for boating and fun. If you do not own a boat yourself you can take one of the local boat cruises out of there or hop on a ferry to Block Island, another hidden gem. Spending a day on the Island is a blast and there is no need for a car. Food, shopping, and beautiful views are all around and easy to access. I could go on and on about all the great things to do in this state, but one of the benefits of living in Rhode Island is getting to explore and stumbling upon new things for yourself.
Places To Eat:
Did someone say food? Rhode Island is a small state with a big food reputation, known for several staples including Dels, stuffies, clam cakes, hot wieners and more. There is a perfect mix for every palate. Providence is home to several genuine Italian restaurants and markets that will have everyone saying “Mamma Mia.” But that’s not all, Providence also offers tons of other amazing genuine international foods. You can’t be in the Ocean State without having a taste of it, find yourself at one of the many delicious seafood restaurants and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. This state has hundreds of places that offer culinary genius. It is no wonder the people here are so happy.
Schools and Universities:
For being the smallest state in the U.S. Rhode Island still finds itself home to 13 Colleges/Universities and 304 public/private schools. Some of the top rated public school districts include Barrington, East Greenwich and South Kingston, but the state also offers several private schools and religious based schools as well. Due to the wealth in some areas the majority of students will attend private schools, but no matter where your students go they will be given an excellent education. If you are looking for collegiate education RI is home to one of the Ivy League schools Brown and also has several other top rated schools.

Location:
People always say location is everything, well if that is the case there is no need to look any further because Rhode Island has the perfect location. With the state being 37 miles wide and 48 miles long no matter where you are you can get to a beach within 30 minutes. If you prefer the ocean from afar there is tons of agricultural land in the area as well. We offer an International Airport (T.F. Green) and several bus and train stations. One of the other beneficial things about our location is you can get to 3 major cities Boston, Hartford and New York City within just a couple hours. The convenience of the location sells itself.
Real Estate:
When it comes to the real estate in Rhode Island, there is something for everyone! For the coastal lovers, the East Bay and South County regions are perfect for you. For those who prefer city living, Providence is where you get the perfect mix of old and new. You will find colleges and nightlife along with historical shops and restaurants. For anyone who prefers quiet, peaceful rural living, I would suggest Northern Rhode Island. Here you will find beautiful homes surrounded by gorgeous scenery.
